Kevin Kress is a Lighting Designer and Theater Technician based in Chicago. Kevin is a lifelong Illinois resident and is grateful to have lived so close to this wonderful city his entire life. Kevin received a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Production Design and Technology with a minor in Film Studies, from Illinois State University. His Favorite Films being Little Miss Sunshine (2006) - Jonathan Dayton & Valerie Faris and After Life (1998) - Hirokazu Koreeda.

Kevin got his start largely through Summer Stock, working with companies such as the Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and the Forestburgh Playhouse. He’s always excited to bring Summer Stock ambition and resourcefulness to his work in Chicago. When he’s not designing, Kevin can often be found working Electrics calls throughout the city for companies including The Marriott Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre, and Northlight Theatre.

Outside of theater, Kevin's current ambitions include learning to grow houseplants and perfecting salsa recipes. If the stars haven’t aligned to collaborate on a lighting project, please never hesitate to reach out with tips for his current hobbies - his money tree would appreciate it.
